For this project, I focused on designing and creating a 3D environmental asset. Using Maya, I expanded my skills in digital modeling and painting while increasing my efficiency in detailed modeling techniques.

This "vintage" rolling dishwasher was inspired by a real one from my childhood that I recently helped my dad fix up. Growing up I didn't realize how awesome these things were until I didn't have one for a few years... It was a staple in my home and I wanted to honor it by emphasizing its distinctive butcher block countertop and charming retro buttons. To give the model extra personality, I chose a bright, nostalgic orange color scheme and stylized some features to make the appliance feel more loveable and "alive".

Throughout the project, I faced plenty of challenges, especially getting the geometry just right. There were countless undo's from bad extrusions, accidentally pulling and painting the wrong pieces, and losing track of how many subdivisions or instances of lights I was creating. After more than a few computer crashes and hours of troubleshooting slow renders, I learned an important lesson about the value of optimization and clean workflow.

This project challenged me to find a balance between realism and stylization, and I'm proud of how the final asset captures both the uniqueness of the object and the sentimental value it holds for me.
