Created as part of my independent study in my final semester of college, this wearable piece explores the relationship between identity, technology, and self-perception.

The process began with a 3D scan of my own face, allowing me to model a custom-fitted mask that conforms precisely to my features. The faceplate was then divided into eight independent sections and mounted to a custom mechanism driven by four servos converted into linear actuators. Each segment moves independently, causing the face to continuously separate and reassemble in unsettling ways.

The concept for this piece came to me in a dream. It reflects the feeling of becoming disconnected from your own identity, where the face that represents you no longer feels familiar. Rather than fully concealing my identity, the mask exposes instability and illustrates how our sense of self can fracture.

The mask itself was 3D printed with transparent PETG filament, and the hardware was driven with an ESP32. I also designed the background visuals via TouchDesigner.
